About Project TOTUS
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
With the changing economy and COVID-19 pandemic in particular city wide lockdowns people started to both work and shop from home, this gave them more time in the day with their families as well as being more convenient, however with this there was an increase in the demand for deliver drives. To allow for these drives to experience the same quality from life with the possibility of working from home. Project TOTUS will aim to control a car from a remote location.
We are a team of seven ANU engineering undergraduate students undergoing a capstone project within the ENGN 4300 course. The team is majoring in multiple different areas including, mechatronics and renewable system
Meet The Team
David Hayter
Project Co-Lead
David is a 4th year Systems Engineering student majoring in Renewable Systems. Through his internship, where he worked with a biomedical startup company to develop a surgical instrument, he acquired skills in market research, regulatory compliance and product development planning. He aims to bring his skillset to the team to facilitate in producing a comprehensive final product.
Hugh O'Brien
Project Co-Lead
I am a Fourth-Year Bachelor of Engineer (Honours) student at the Australian National University. I’m completing a double major in Mechanical and Material System and Renewable Energy Systems. In addition to this, I have completed engineering work experience at the Murray Darling Basin Authority where I analysed the maintenance efficiency of major assets such as Hume dam and the Salt Interception Scheme.
George Owens
System Team Member
George is an aspiring Systems and Renewables Engineer in his final year at the ANU. He wants to use his engineering expertise to innovate and increase our understanding of solutions for tackling climate change. Outside of Engineering, he likes reading, playing soccer, and a good cup of tea.
Yash Sharma
System Team Member
Yash is a 4th year system engineering student doing a double major in mechatronic systems and in electrical and communication systems. Yash brings knowledge of control systems, Computer Vision, Signal Processing. Also, Yash has skills of Welding and Lathe operation.
Mitchell Grady
Technical Team Member
Mitchell is a 4th year systems engineering student completing a major in mechatronic systems and a minor in electrical and communication systems. With a passion for learning more about hardware, Mitchell bring a wide set of skills to the team including a knowledge of electrical and control systems used in robotics, as well as signals processing.
Max Kennedy
Technical Team Member
Max is a Systems Engineering student at ANU in his final year, majoring in mechatronic systems. Max Completed a mechanical engineering internship in a consulting firm, in which he was able to apply his knowledge of project process to excel in his work. Outside of university he enjoys to play and watch Basketball and Table Tennis, as well as playing competitive card games.
Borui Chen
Semester Two Team Member
4th year Engineering student, Major in Renewable Energy System. Years of overseas learning hone his problem-solving skills and interest in always exploring the latest technology market trend. Since his internship experience in Bombardier Singapore and research program in Nio EV, he is able to fully comprehend and get hands-on with private jet refurbishment, car battery system layout as well as clean energy storage.
